NEWS
  The Foundation for Liturgical Music was established in 1996. It is composed of a group of dedicated volunteers comprised of choir directors, choir members, musicians and individuals who all share an interest in quality liturgical music and experience. More importantly, they all share a passion for sharing that experience with the larger church community.

  All About Us:

Nancy Brown has served on the FLM Board since 2003 and does all of the graphic design and print material as well as serving as the database manager for the organization. Nancy operates her own educational technology training and consulting company as well as working as a part-time trainer for the Apple Store in Birmingham. She is a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church and sings in Crossties, the evening choir as well as the choir at Iglesia de la Gracia, a Hispanic Episcopal Congregation in Huffman. She is also very active in the music ministry for the Alabama Cursillo movement. Nancy and her husband, Jim have been married for 38 years and have two daughters and three grandchildren.

Jessica Lloyd is married to Curtis Lloyd. She graduated with honors from Coker College as a Vocal Performance major with a double major in Dance Performance/Choreography and a minor in Journalism. Jessica currently teaches Voice, Dance, and Beginning Piano at 5,6,7,8, Dance & More, a Christian dance studio in Springville. Jessica recently took over the Youth Minister job at Our Lady of Lourdes in Birmingham and is enjoying being a part of the FLM board as Chairperson of Youth Programs.

Joe Palmer serves as the treasurer of FLM. Joe has been a church musician for 45 years and is a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Birmingham where he sings in Crossties, the evening choir. Joe is retired from the U.S. Postal Service, but is hardly "retired". He currently does contract work for the Postal Service and also operates a successful mobile DJ business. Joe has been married to Susan for 38 years and has two grown daughters and two grandchildren. On the rare occasion when there is "spare time", Joe enjoys camping, kayaking, and fishing.

Janet Rubino is the Director of Liturgical Music and pianist at Saint Patrick Catholic Church in Adamsville, Alabama. She has served the parish in the music field for 15 years. Janet and her husband, Tony and their daughter, Angela, are all members of the parish's Praise and Worship band, Absolute Presence. Janet has recently released a CD of original contemporary Christian songs, entitled "Worthy Sparrow".

Nancy Ryan serves currently as the Secretary and faculty liaison for FLM and has been a board member since 1997. She is a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in Birmingham, where she has been serving as Director of Music Ministry since 2000. She also served as Director of Youth Ministry from 1997-2004. Nancy is a graduate of UAB, where she earned a B.S. degree in Nursing and a Master's degree in Elementary Education. She and her husband, Jon, have three children and two grandchildren.     

Theresa Thienpont is the current President and faculty liaison for FLM. She is a charter member of the organization. Theresa has been the Minister of Music at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church since 1994. She has served as a cantor and accompanist at various churches throughout the United States for many years. Theresa is also a private piano and vocal instructor at Our Lady of the Valley School. Theresa has a large family and enjoys spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Mike Yielding has served on the FLM Board for several years including a term as President and Master of Ceremonies for the Music Ministry Series Conferences. Mike currently serves as the Executive Vice President. Mike is an accomplished vocalist and bass guitarist and he spends a great deal of his time working on various music projects, including one which features contemporary arrangements of traditional hymns. Mike is a self-employed building and property inspector and shares his life with his wife, Donna and his four children and three grandchildren.
